Healing Environments

Mark Twain Medical Center is built on land that once belonged to the California Valley Miwok Tribe, and when our hospital opened in 1951 tribal descendents came to bless our new building and honor their ancestors. In 2017, we resumed this practice and hope to make it an annual event. We also want to create a Healing Garden where patients, families and visitors can find quiet repose surrounded by natural beauty.
